Volunteer Wardens

Wardening has developed considerably since the pilot warden schemes started in 2000.  There has also been much good work to introduce junior and youth wardens in order to foster good citizenship and to encourage young people to consider wardening as a worthwhile career. Some warden schemes may now wish to introduce volunteer wardens as a further development of the initiative. This guidance should assist with that development.

The guide is available as a downloadable pdf file:

CABE Space

CABE Space is the part of CABE (Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) dedicated to encouraging excellence in the planning, design, management and maintenance of parks and public space in England's towns and cities.

Neighbourhood Renewal Unit (NRU)

The NRU is responsible for overseeing the Government's comprehensive neighbourhood renewal strategy. A strategy that responds to local circumstances rather than directs everything from Whitehall.  It aims to harness the hundreds of billions of pounds spent by key government departments rather than relying on one-off regeneration spending. A range of different programmes have been established to determine local needs and to pilot new ways to fight deprivation in our poorest, most deprived communities

The NRU is part of the Communities and Local Government (CLG) and working with government offices· neighbourhood renewal teams, we oversee and support local strategic partnerships in the 88 most deprived districts in England.

See the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit website (www.neighbourhood.gov.uk).
